“We know that bus operators across Wales are finding it a challenge to run services and keep fares low because of the rising cost of fuel. Natural gas buses offer the potential to experiment with new alternatives to these traditional fuel sources that are more economical and also better for our customers in terms of their experience in the vehicle,” said Scott Pearson, Managing Director of Newport Transport, which runs Newport Bus.
The MAN EcoCity meets Euro 6 and has been designed to be able to use biomethane as well as CNG. It has CO₂ emissions that are 24% less than those of a new Euro 5 diesel engine, and has been described by many impressed customers and drivers as ‘quiet, spacious and smooth.’
