CNTU leaders also said they it is planned to install a CNG filling station in the area as soon as the natural gas powered vehicles begin operating, as published by local news website El Nuevo Diario.
The units will be financed by the union’s bank for those carriers interested, according to the CNTU president, Ramon Pérez Figuereo. “We are also working with people who want to convert their vehicles to CNG,” the union leader said.
The brand new fleet will not only serve as a source of employment for a large number of unemployed taxi drivers and carriers but also generate savings in operational costs and protect the environment, union’s members explained.
