The manager of Transport, Traffic and Road Safety of MPT, Víctor Hugo del Carpio, the engineer Sixto Guarniz from the Mechanical Research and Technology Center and Abel Gutiérrez, who was the responsible for the NGV conversion, described both economical and environmental benefits that transition to natural gas could bring to public transport companies.
Del Carpio said that this initiative coincided with the arrival of 132 CNG powered buses that Consorcio del Norte was about to complete in collaboration with COFIDE and with the support of the MPT.
He also revealed that conversion investment reached USD 9.000, although there would be facilities for drivers or owners of local buses interested in the switch to CNG.
Moreover, the MPT reported earlier this month that the first CNG station in Trujillo, installed by Clean Energy del Peru, had started its trial phase.
