Luís Simões has just added to its fleet an Iveco Stralis running on gas, manufactured at Madrid plant. This acquisition is part of the company’s policy of social responsibility and is associated with other initiatives such as the Eco-driving program. According to INE (Statistics Spanish Office), in relation to the European Union, 96% of energy needs are satisfied by oil and its derivatives, which explain the high volume of CO2 emissions generated by the sector, thus there is an ecological need to reduce this dependence.
“The commitment to a sustainable freight transport does not go through a unique solution, but is the result of the addition of several initiatives on different fronts. Heavy vehicles powered by LNG are a more environmentally friendly alternative to conventional fuels,” said Dalila Tavares, Business Development Director at LS.
“The acquisition of this vehicle is part of our policy of social responsibility with our customer, with which we have a close relationship. We provide a quality service in the distribution of merchandise complemented with the use of an environmentally friendly vehicle adapted to urban centers,” she added. Watch Live Cams Now! Among the advantages of using a vehicle powered by LNG is the reduction of 20% CO2 emissions as well as the decrease in up to 70% of noise, compared to similar vehicles powered by conventional fuels (for the ear human is four times less noise). All these characteristics make these trucks are especially suitable for freight transport in urban centers.
