The England-based operator announces that the new service between Reading and Wokingham will be called the Leopard 3 and its start date has now been confirmed as Monday 16 June.
The route will run along the Shinfield Road out of Reading, going via Shinfield, Arborfield (including Arborfield Cross and Arborfield Garrison) and Wokingham. It will run every day of the week and will provide a 20-minute daytime service on Mondays to Saturdays between Reading Station and Arborfield with every third bus extending all the way to Wokingham along the line of the current 144 service. Buses will run between Reading and Arborfield in the evenings and on Sundays, too. The timetable and details of fares will be released shortly.
The buses will be brand new single-decker bus powered by ultra-green compressed natural gas, fitted out with free wi-fi, on-board next stop announcements, both verbal and visual as well as destination repeaters to help people who cannot easily read what is written on the front of the bus.
“We are confident the new leopard 3 service is sure to catch attention with its striking bold look and name. The leopard buses will be to the very latest design, powered by bio-methane gas for very low emissions and smooth operation. Reading Buses is investing £1.3million in these new buses and a team of 15 volunteers is being brought together to drive them,” company’s marketing manager Jake Osman said.
