Although the model presented at the 2012 National Transportation Fair some days ago was designed to collect waste, the vehicle can be adapted to other applications, such as freight transport and distribution, mainly in urban areas. The drive range for the CNG option reaches 500 km, while the fuel storage capacity of the biomethane alternative can reach 300 km.
As reported by Terra website, Scania intends to introduce in Chile at least 10 of these trucks in 2012. The new model fights against both air and noise pollution, due to its technology, which reduces C02 emissions up to 90% and cuts noise levels while operating.
Scania Sweden Product Planning manager Jorge Gutiérrez explained: “Today, the planet is dealing with environmental issues and it is our responsibility to generate solutions that help reduce carbon dioxide and particulates emissions.”
