Scania (Great Britain) Limited will work with bodybuilder Alexander Dennis Limited to introduce this low entry bus into the UK after the significant success in a number of Swedish cities and other locations around the world. The collaborative venture will see Scania supply its chassis and high pressure lightweight composite tanks to Alexander Dennis for fitment of an adapted Enviro300 43-seat, 12.2-metre overall length body.
In preparation for the UK introduction of the new bus, Scania has already ensured that all necessary technical literature and parts are available, and is also working with a CNG infrastructure provider in order to be able to supply operators with a complete natural gas-powered transport system.
Over the course of its long history, Scania has produced NGVs for almost 100 years, with one of the earliest recorded examples being buses adapted to run on producer natural gas during the First World War years. Scania first produced a dedicated CNG bus engine in 1940. In more recent times, the company has supplied in excess of 3,800 natural gas engines for various applications.
