“I am looking forward to my next outing in the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup. It is always nice to be reunited with old acquaintances from my time as a rally driver. The Scirocco is fascinating, with its innovative technology like the natural gas engine and Push-to-Pass system. It is always great fun to drive this car,” Juha Kankkunen recently stated.
The Scirocco R-Cup is hosted as part of the DTM and is presented by Volkswagen Motorsport in association with Gazprom. In 2013, the cup comprises nine races held at six events. The grand finale will take place at the Hockenheimring on 19 October.
“Environmentally-friendly drive technologies are becoming increasingly important in motorsport. Using natural gas as a motor-fuel has great potential”, says Hans-Joachim Struck, President of the German Motor Sport Association (DMSB).
