Shri BC Tripathi, Gail’s chairman and managing director, stated: “Gail Gas, which is involved in the city gas distribution, has organised one such CNG scooter for demonstration from Iran, for exhibition, and we will like to be an enabler for these scooters in the country.”
In turn, representatives from the manufacturers industry expressed that success and viability of any vehicle powered by alternative fuels depends on back-end support. “Refuelling points, in this case for CNG, are crucial,” they said.
India already has three and four-wheelers driven by natural gas. Moreover, 9.4 million motorized two-wheelers running on liquid fuels are manufactured and sold every year, while the total 2-wheeler population in India surpasses 50 million.
