“The natural gas engine is an important element in the Škoda sustainability strategy and is now making its way into our best-selling model series,” said Frank Welsch, Škoda Board Member for Technical Development. “Using CNG technology makes sense, as it combines environmentally-friendly mobility with affordability. The Octavia G-TEC is making our Octavia series even more attractive and eco-friendly.”
The new Škoda Octavia G-TEC is powered by a 1.4 TSI bivalent engine with an output of 81 kW (110 hp), which has been designed for CNG and gasoline. The G-TEC package includes a number of technological features, such as the Start-Stop System and regenerative braking. The modern powertrain also meets the Euro6 emission standards valid from September 2014.
Only on natural gas, the vehicle can travel up to 410 kilometers without refueling. Consumption stands at 5.4 m3 (3,5 kg) natural gas per 100 kilometers, which corresponds to CO2emissions of just 97 g/km. Distances of up to 920 km can be travelled on petrol. This gives the Octavia G-TEC a total of 1,330 kilometers after one stop at the filling station.
