The new Alimerka fleet is more sustainable, emits less CO2 into the atmosphere and produces less noise. Specifically, the company’s 66 LNG-powered vehicles, all of them from the Scania brand, reduce CO2 emissions by up to 30% and produce approximately half the noise of a conventional truck, which makes them valid for distribution within the urban center.
The trucks have a range of 1,000 km thanks to their LNG tanks, which are refueled at the logistics center of Alimerka in Lugo de Llanera, where they have their own dispenser. They transport the goods to the chain’s points of sale in Asturias, Castilla y León and Galicia. In total, they travel more than three million kilometers per year, and can transport an average of 6 to 12 tons of goods per vehicle in each trip.
The supermarket chain culminates a pioneering process that was born with the aim of providing a sustainable and efficient solution for mobility, as well as guaranteeing the reduction of energy consumption.
In this extremely encouraging scenario for sustainable mobility, where more and more Spanish transport fleets add vehicles powered by natural gas, AltFuels Iberia 2019 will take place on 11-14 June at IFEMA Trade Center, Madrid.
It will be an event consisting of first level conferences and exhibition of vehicles of all kinds, refueling stations, components, plants, road and marine engines, as well as the entire universe of the alternative fuels industry with the latest technological developments, multiple options for networking, business and new advances.
