Only one year after acquiring its first LNG-powered truck, half of the fleet of 110 trucks of Delgo, Valencia-based transport operator, runs on this fuel. These vehicles, which were manufactured by Scania and are equipped with its 420HP natural gas engine, are mainly used for national distribution transport to several large supermarket chains in Spain.
“When we discovered that Scania manufactured LNG trucks, the decision was practically made. And the results we achieved have been better than what we had on paper: better consumption levels and fewer emissions, of course,” said Felix Gonzalez, General Director of Delgo.
LNG trucks also attract customers looking for alternative fueled transportation, which helps drive the rapid adoption of such a large LNG fleet by Delgo. “When we analyzed the situation, we considered it was riskier to do nothing,” Gonzalez added.
In addition to investing in a renewed fleet of LNG trucks, Delgo has also installed its own refueling station at its main facilities in Valencia, a strategic decision that will save time and money.
