Along with the fleet renewal, the long-haul transport area at Pascual has made efforts with other measures in order to improve environmental efficiency, including route optimization to reduce the number of kilometers covered and the growing use of the long-haul vehicles’ capabilities.
These initiatives have resulted in a 20% joint emissions reduction of nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and particulate matter in the long-distance transport operations of Pascual in 2013. Since this environmental plan started five years ago, the dairy company has managed to cut its emissions by 75%.
According to a statement delivered by David de la Calle, director of Purchasing, Planning and Logistics at the company, “Pascual is facing the challenge of expanding its long-haul sustainable fleet, overcoming current barriers such as a lack of trucks with these features or even the incipient refueling infrastructure. However, we are confident that we will turn these handicaps into opportunities in collaboration with companies committed to the same sustainable future.”
