This initiative aims to make possible a greener transport, since the deployment of this CNG driven vehicle lowers emissions and greenhouse gases by 20% in comparison with conventional diesel. In addition, Simply seeks to reduce the noise produced by transport and storage tasks and, as a consequence, contributes to improve the livability in the city. With the new natural gas powered vehicle, the noise decreases between 3 and 6 dB over a diesel engine, which accounts for 50% less noise pollution.
Simply Supermarkets Company has developed this project together with Trío Logistics Operators Company and Mercedes Benz. After considering other proposals, this vehicle has become the best choice for transporting goods to supermarkets, as the natural gas propulsion system is cheaper than others and significantly reduces fuel costs, as well as it has sufficient driving range to perform urban delivery tasks, compared to other environmentally friendly technologies.
It is worth mentioning that Simply has just joined the United Nations Global Compact, since is committed to its social and environmental principles, as part of the firm’s overall strategy.
