The manufacturer announced the launch of the new Honda City CNG, which is powered by a 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine that supports gasoline and natural gas fuel systems, installed at the Honda factory. This model offers a sporty and stunning design, more comfort with a spacious interior, and is fully equipped with smart technology and premium safety features. It is now available in three variants –the S CNG MT, the S CNG AT and the V CNG AT- at prices ranging from 612,000 (US$19,000) to 711,000 Baht (US$22,200).
“The 4th generation of the Honda City, which was launched in January, has received great feedback from customers in its segment. Today, Honda offers more value to Thai customers with the launch of the new Honda City CNG, developed to meet customers’ needs for the ideal value-for-money vehicle,” said Pitak Pruittisarikorn, Chief Operating Officer of Honda Automobile (Thailand).
The gasoline system can generate up to 120 hp at 6,600 rpm, with maximum torque of 145 Nm at 4,600 rpm, while the CNG system can generate 102 hp at 6,600 rpm with maximum torque of 127 Nm at 4,800 rpm. The bi-fuel engine system, combined with a new CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) developed under Honda’s Earth Dreams technology with enhanced gear ratios and the G-Design Shift System, will offer more efficient fuel consumption and provide better acceleration. The engine is also E20 compatible.
The 65-liter natural gas tank is made from high-quality steel that is highly resistant to gas pressure. It is bolted firmly in place on a steel mounting bracket and the body structure is strengthened in line with safety standards. Besides, the car has a CNG switching button to change the fuel usage and a Gas Remaining Display, which is a light displaying the use status and CNG fuel level.
