“Most of our sales, up to 80%, come from commercial pickup trucks, and we will stay active in this segment,” commented Surayut Posirisuk, managing director of Sammitr Green Power Co (SGP), Sammitr Motors’ subsidiary running the CNG conversion business. According to Bangkok Post, SGP has installed natural gas equipments in over 50,000 cars during the last ten years and also has provided CNG retrofit service to world’s leading automakers.
Surayut Posirisuk revealed that the company expects to start operations at a new plant in eastern Bangkok later this year with a monthly production capacity of 1,000 vehicles. SGP also hopes to add 10 service centers to its current network, mostly in central Thailand.
Compressed natural gas powered pickups sold by SGP in the Thai market include single-cab, extended-cab and double-cab based on the Hilux Vigo. The executive also showed interest in converting for other pickup brands.
