Number 177 bus route is the first EMT`s itinerary and the first public transport service operational in this popular neighborhood of Tetuán district. The mass transit company aims to improve the accessibility of 50,000 potential citizens to city bus service. With a smaller passenger capacity, this type of vehicle has instead great versatility and maneuverability, being prepared to travel on narrow streets and complicated turns.
“The level of development of a city has so much to do with mobility and sustainability,” said Mayor Ana Botella at the new green bus route presentation ceremony held in Plaza de Castilla. “Madrid delivers a high quality public transport, and the EMT is considered a competitive, highly-valued service.”
Regarding sustainability, 34% of the total 2,018 EMT’s buses are clean fueled, and 33% of them are powered by compressed natural gas. Now there are 50 bus routes exclusively running on CNG.
