The new fleet will be run by the Stagecoach UK Bus, one of the largest public transport operators in the UK, which wants to evaluate this new County Council initiative supported by funding from the East Midlands Development Agency.
“The bus is less noisy and reduces our carbon footprint by hopefully up to 50 per cent,” said Engineering Director at Stagecoach, John Taylor, during the launching at the Epic Centre of the Lincolnshire Showground.
In addition, Public Transport Strategy and Development Manager at Lincolnshire County Council Anita Ruffle stated: “This is designed as a trial for around 12 months which, with the help of Stagecoach, will demonstrate the technology works and we will see a growth in interest from commercial operators.”
