Through its natural gas distributor Energy Services of Pensacola (ESP), the city has recently unveiled its first CNG-fuelled car, and also plans to introduce more “green” vehicles to its fleet as a way to save costs on rising gasoline prices and reduce emissions into the environment.
The launching event took place last Thursday at the Pensacola City Hall where ESP technicians were on-hand to answer questions and demonstrate the Honda Civic GX to the media and the public.
Last April, Hayward authorized the purchase of Pensacola’s first NGV and also called on other government entities and private companies to consider converting vehicles to natural gas as a cleaner option for their fleets and to partner with the City on the effort. “Natural gas is cheaper, it’s cleaner and better for the environment, and owning a natural gas utility like ESP makes it a pretty convenient vehicle to fill up,” he said.
