In collaboration with Valencia city council, EMT buses, which travel annually over 22 million kilometres, stopped emitting 54,498 tonnes of CO2, equivalent to more than 67 million journeys in private vehicles.
“Besides the important contribution to preserving the environmental surroundings of Valencia, public transport use also involves a significant cost savings, so necessary in these times,” said EMT’s president Alfonso Novo, noting that changing private by public transportation is an essential action to improve the quality of life in the city.
Novo also added: “It is not about any value of the service, but it is about a responsibility taken, certified and recognized by the European quality standard UNE-EN 13846, awarded by AENOR to all EMT lines, and the Environmental Management Standard 14001.”
