In September, the Venezuelan government signed an agreement for the construction of a Yutong buses plant in its territory, which will produce 3,600 units per year. The announcement was made by Ricardo Menéndez, Venezuelan Minister of Industry, during a visit to one of the assembly plants owned by the manufacturer in China. The official stated that the project would modernize the public transport system and strengthen industrial development.
At the same time, the Minister of Land Transportation Haiman El Troudi had reported that 2,000 buses would arrive from China as of November and would be distributed in 38 cities around the country.
Over the last years, the Government of Venezuela has been strongly encouraging the adoption of natural gas in both the public transportation and private vehicle sectors.
