SAMCO manufactured the first CNG fueled bus in April. The 300 natural gas-powered buses submitted to the HCM City People’s Committee is part of the new investment project for 1,680 buses with the Department of Transport as an investor. This bus model has got through with its designing stage in the Cu Chi Auto Factory. This type of bus is manufactured with a Korean engine and its environmentally friendly bodywork made by SAMCO.
According to a Vietnam News report, more than a year ago, Sai Gon Passenger Transport Company was given permission by the People’s Committee to import 50 compressed natural gas buses. As a result, the company acquired 21 vehicles, which are now in operation on the Ben Thanh Market – Cho Lon Bus Station route.
Besides, HCM City Bus Co-operative Alliance has bought 7 CNG buses which are also running across the city’s main areas.
