Among other routes, the new refuse truck travelled from the waste transfer station in Leeuwarden to the Ecopark in Oudehaske, and was exhibited to the media. In the future, it will also cover the Oudehaske-Harlingen route.
With the CNG Scania, equipped with a 305 hp engine in combination with a fully automatic gearbox and eight 80-litres cylinders, Omrin will obtain a CO² reduction of up to 70 per cent compared to an equivalent diesel truck.
At Ecopark, Omrin has its own processing plant that produces biogas from residual waste, which will be soon upgraded to be used as vehicle fuel. Moreover, a natural gas refuelling station will be installed at the Ecopark.
