“Angra is Rio de Janeiro’s ninth city to have a CNG filling station. Now, our citizens have the privilege of supplying their cars here, without moving to other cities. It is an important moment for all of us,” said alderman Jorge Eduardo Mascote, responsible for the initiative.
With nearly 200 people, the opening ceremony held on Monday was attended by representatives of the municipality of Angra dos Reis, including Mayor Tuca Jordão. “People deserve to have an alternative to fuel their vehicles. Our city is growing by leaps and bounds and Japuíba, Angra’s largest district, could not miss out. The neighbourhood has grown, is growing and will continue to grow,” said the official.
With the use of CNG vehicles, motorists can get 75 percent reduction in the value of the tax on vehicles’ property (IPVA, as in its Portuguese acronym) and a saving of more than R$ 1,000 per month for taxi drivers, which can be transmitted to the population with a reduction in the fare.
