The installation of the two refuelling facilities was undertaken by the current municipal management, which will save about USD 40,000 with the new filling station. “Everyone knows that CNG is one of the cheapest fuels in the market. And our people needed it,” said Lemos.
The opening was also attended by the secretary of Urbanism and Environment, Getúlio de Moura, and the owners of the BR Pereira dispensing point, Adriano and Henrique Fagundes, among other guests.
The state of Rio de Janeiro remains steadfast in its project to increase the deployment of clean fuel vehicles for the next international sport events, like the 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Olympics. In November, the city of Angra dos Reis will open its first two CNG filling stations.
