“A couple of years ago we bet on CNG development, while some timid actions were taken. In 2010, natural gas business revived and started to expand. Then, we realized that we were not able to face this challenge on our own, so we decided to find partners,” explained Gerardo Cood, Gasco general manager, as reported by La Tercera newspaper.
Currently, AutoGasco owns six stations and 45 additional CNG refuelling facilities, which are targeted primarily at taxis and buses segment. For this reason, the company aims that officials lift the ban on private cars conversions to CNG, so that the adoption of this fuel starts spreading in Chile.
It is worth mentioning that last May Enex acquired Shell Chile’s assets for a total of USD 633 million and later on Terpel’s in September. With this possessions, Enex has increased its market share up to 25%, with approximately 500 stations and 97 convenience stores.
