According to Clean Energy Fuels Corp. press release, over the next 12 months they will reconfigure and upgrade compressor equipment at Metro stations that supply CNG bus fleets of the Los Angeles Central and South Bay agencies. It is expected to provide more than 9 million gallons of gas per year under the new contract.
“We are pleased to be selected by Metro and expand its working relationship with them to support their operation of the nation’s largest clean-air bus fleet. Clean Energy is partnering with many major public transit agencies and their service providers to fuel over 5,000 buses, and to help them implement and expand their clean-fuel programs,” said Clean Energy’s chief marketing officer James Harger.
Metro, which currently operates more than 2,500 clean-burning CNG buses comprising 95% of its overall fleet, secured grant funding for this CNG station upgrade project from the federal program, which was created by the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
