According to the official, these new filling stations are part of the private sector’s commitment to the President Leonel Fernández plan. He also confirmed that they will start to install CNG kits by the first week of October. Conversions will be performed in more than 16,000 public transport vehicles that receive funding through ‘Bonogas’ program.
The OTTT’s director made the announcement to more than 70 representatives of drivers’ federations and unions of the Northern Zone, in the city of Santiago. At the meeting, he also reported that the Government will bear the cost of the equipment installation, once vehicles are certified in specialized workshops and by the OTTT.
“With natural gas, we will have fuel savings of over 60 percent, which will contribute to a better quality of life for Dominican families,” said Horton. In turn, he stressed that the natural gas technology will impact on the lowering of ticket prices and the quality of the environment.
