Three new filling stations were already opened by early May 2012, two of which are located in a public transport garage in Basateeen area in Cairo City. The facilities serve both public buses and private vehicles. The third site is situated in Suez City.
Huge financial subsidies are allocated to the liquid fuels by the state every year. This has been heavily impacting the budget deficit and therefore experts advocate the prompt shift to the CNG as adopted in other countries. Egypt has a successful experience in the segment and has the potential to be a major NGV country in the future.
