Sant Boi City Council’s municipal company Claus has put into operation the first public CNG station in the city. The new facility is part of the Can Calderon Service Area, located in the industrial zone of the municipality. It is a 16,200-m2 area that one of the widest ranges in the region regarding the supply of fuels and transport services.
The municipal fleet of CNG-powered road cleaning and waste collection vehicles is already benefiting from the service of the new filling station, which avoids travel to other municipalities and therefore leads to savings in money, emissions and time.
Given the current climate emergency situation and taking into account that transport accounts for 40% of the municipality’s polluting emissions, the opening of this station represents another step in the commitment of the Sant Boi City Council to reduce emissions in a 60% by 2030 (compared to the figures registered in 2005), in this case through the use of cleaner energy in transport to help improve air quality and people’s health.
The Can Calderon Services Area has 150 parking spaces for commercial vehicles, as well as an automatic washing service for cars, coaches and trucks, the new CNG station and a Repsol station that offers diesel, gasoline, ‘adblue’ and LPG. Sant Boi’s first fast charging point (50 kW) will also be put into operation shortly, which will allow charging electric vehicles in about 30 minutes.
