The facility, located in Geispolsheim-La Vigie, was officially launched on September 26 and the ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by Sebastian Zaegel, Mayor of Geispolsheim; Philippe Commaret, CEO of ES Energies Strasbourg; and Olivier Bitz, President of Réseau GDS. With this investment, the community and the companies involved are stressing their leadership in natural gas for vehicles and their commitment to a more ecofriendly and cost-effective mobility for users and businesses.
The new fueling station will be equipped with technology provided by GNVert, which will distribute CNG under the flag of ES Energies and will be able to refuel approximately 250 utility and passenger vehicles, with a capacity to supply 10 NGVs per hour. The site will be open 24/7 to commercial fleets and individuals.
In his speech, Bitz recalled that his company is positioning itself as a proactive and dedicated player to face the challenges of energy transition. “Biomethane fuel produced locally under short cycle logic will give a new impetus to the NGV market,” he said regarding the prospect of the arrival of renewable natural gas.
Moreover, Réseau GDS recently took part of the Village de la Mobilité Responsable, along with the Rallye de France WRC, to present two cars running on CNG. The promotion of natural gas vehicles matches with the strategy of the Climate Energy Plan of the City and Urban Community of Strasbourg.
