Cárdenas described 2012 as “the year of natural gas” and stressed that there was a significant growth between last year and the current one in terms of natural gas conversions: while in 2011 only 4,000 vehicles were fitted to run on CNG, so far this year that figure has risen to 7,000 conversions. He reported that in Colombia there are 380,000 NGVs in operation, 40% percent of them running over Bogotá.
Since Gas Natural Fenosa and ExxonMobil have forged an alliance, both companies are re-identifying stations with excellent locations in the capital city, extensive facilities and state-of-the-art fueling equipment, which are currently owned and operated by Grupo EDS Autogas, one of the main ExxonMobil’s trading partners in the fuel retail sector around Colombia.
It is worth mentioning that there are over 650 CNG fueling stations in 44 cities across the country, 125 of them installed in Bogotá.
