Echavarría reckoned that the first thing to do to achieve the local market development is to form a task force among all players in the NGV industry in order to help disseminating the concept of natural gas for vehicles among Mexican citizens. He added that the second crucial step to achieve business success is the support of the Government.
“Today in Mexico we have a great opportunity, not only for the CNG price differential but also for its green and safety characteristics. This country has over 33 million vehicles on the road and with that thing in mind, the target is very clear. If we hit only 5 or 10 percent of the national fleet, the number of NGVs to get is really important and, consequently, we would have a large demand to meet,” he stated.
A few weeks ago, the company also announced that it planned to set up CNG fueling stations in Puebla and Monterrey.
