Currently, Gironde area has 300 NGVs, mostly Italian and German brands that offer bifuel models running on CNG and gasoline. “But France is lagging behind other European countries,” said Eric Manzano, director of Gaz de Bordeaux, which has a fleet of 150 methane powered vehicles.
The new public station, which will serve not only Gironde drivers but also Italian and German tourists, is the first point of a network that will have five to seven NGV dispensing centres in the next five years, as reported by local media SudOuest.
According to GDF-Suez subsidiary and Gaz de Bordeaux scheme, the next CNG pump is expected to be launched in the next months in Bordeaux-Lac area, while Arcachon and Libourne communes are also planned to be equipped.
