While there were 11 dispensing points in 2007, Madrid will have a network of alternative fuel supply consisting of 31 stations in 2011. According to an official statement, it is a network in which the council applies its own experience –the EMT’s facility in Sanchinarro houses Europe’s largest CNG refuelling station– and that promotes mobility based on cleaner vehicles.
Ruiz-Gallardón said the council wants to lead the change to a new model of sustainable, clean and efficient transport, through strategic plans with cross-cutting measures that affect various areas. He also stressed the effort made by his government team to innovate and evaluate alternatives to ensure the competitiveness of the city and its status of European capital committed to the environment.
