The filling station started operations today in the community of San Antonio, García municipality. The project is run by the AutoGas Project Management of the state-owned company Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa). It is expected that 13 more CNG fueling sites will be constructed in the state of Nueva Esparta, two of which will be installed in Coche Island and the rest in Margarita.
According to the local newspaper El Sol de Margarita, Ramon Córdova, manager of the AutoGas project, explained that the natural gas powering the new station is brought by pipeline from the La Isleta station. The fuel is also used for power generation and household applications.
Since a distribution network is expected to be set in Nueva Esparta state, there will be more filling stations in service and an extra fueling site for public transport vehicles. The completion of this project depends on the construction progress of the gas pipeline in Margarita.
The next CNG station to be operational will be located in the community of Villa Rosa and its construction is expected to start in a few days.
