“We will start with the opening of natural gas stations early next year and we intend to maintain the momentum,” the executive said during an interview with T21. Each facility will involve and investment of US$ 4 or 5 million.
Rodriguez explained this initiative is due to the “huge interest” of Mexican drivers in CNG. “It is an economic alternative that improves operations, is better for the engine and also for the environment,” he added.
Moreover, the businessman remarked: “Since the country is taking the first steps in the massive introduction of natural gas and the business still needs to grow properly, there are plans to issue a single standard for CNG filling stations, which cannot operate under the same rules as those that sell liquid fuels or LPG, which are different products.”
The group, which is also present in Chile, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Panama and the Dominican Republic, currently operates four natural gas stations in Mexico’s capital.
