The Endesa Company, responsible of providing the fluid to the refueling station, located in Cas Tresorer, stated to local press that CNG, which is a substitute for gasoline and diesel, is cleaner because reduces emissions to the atmosphere as well as decreases the noise produced by vehicles.
It is expected that EMT’s CNG fleet will reach 58 units by the end of this year. Furthermore, with the renewal of buses to be implemented in 2011, the total natural gas-powered units will be up to 112, reported EFE today.
During the opening ceremony, Antich highlighted the importance of protecting the environment and sustainability in a community whose main source of income is tourism. The regional president explained that joining Spanish gas network represented an “immense effort” that involved an investment of 500 million euros.
