On the other hand, River Valley Transit (RVT) is joining forces with CNG Focus Group (created at Larson Design Group as a response to market direction in natural gas use) to develop a station, scheduled to be completed by May 2012. RVT also expects to purchase its first CNG bus this year, with plans to transition the fleet of 30 transit buses to methane over 10 years, and to set up fuelling partnerships with municipalities and other local fleets.
“This project makes sense for RVT, the City of Williamsport, Lycoming County, and the community-at-large,” said Bill Nichols, general manager of RVT. “The RVT CNG Project is fiscally, environmentally, and socially responsible. It is the role of government to build infrastructure; which offers opportunity to private industry.”
