ACUA President Richard S. Dovey stated: “This new fuelling station will service the ACUA’s growing fleet of CNG trucks, and will also be the first in the region to make compressed natural gas fuel available to other public and private fleets”.
Moreover, County Executive Dennis Levinson explained that it is an important step in building the infrastructure to support the use of this clean fuel in Atlantic County.
Funding assistance for the station was awarded to the company through the New Jersey Clean Cities Coalition which aims to reduce petroleum consumption in the transportation sector by expanding the markets for alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles.
In turn, the New Jersey Clean Cities project will deploy 277 heavy duty natural gas garbage trucks and shuttle buses and aid in the construction of four new CNG fuelling stations throughout Newark, Camden, Trenton, Egg Harbor Township and Atlantic City.
