“This new proposal for a public transportation system running on compressed natural gas is an important option that will be very competitive for both the environment and fuel cost savings,” said State Secretary of Sustainable Development, Marcelo López Sánchez, to El Economista.
The goal is to replace about 600 diesel-powered buses, according to the director of the Transportation Department at the State Government Secretariat, Luis Enrique Moreno Cortés. Late last year, the official announced the intention to execute a CNG conversion program.
It is worth mentioning in the city of Saltillo, Coahuila state, there are also plans to renew old and polluting buses with natural gas vehicles, which will be provided by the company Road Master.
