The plan includes the combined study of both number and location of the different stations in order to design the supply network and also the acquisition of equipment and its installation in public spaces. The first facility, which will be located in Era Alta town, will have public access. Specifically, 29 CNG powered waste collection vehicles will have the opportunity to take advantage of the first demonstration phase and then pave the way for other companies to join.
In a medium-term future, this initiative will open up the possibility to implement natural gas in public transport buses, as well as the cities of Madrid and Barcelona have done.
“We are working hard to build a better Murcia environmentally speaking, and the way to achieve this goal can only done by small but continuous steps without losing the pace. The plan presented today is one of them,” Cámara pointed out.
