In order to facilitate the pumps’ installation, the city council members approved a bill with adjustments that allowed the issue of the environmental license. For example, the document reduced from 250 to 100 meters the distance between the station and other buildings like homes, schools and hospitals.
“The CNG stations will be of great importance to our city. It will be a great gain for drivers and especially for taxi drivers because of the low cost of the product,” said councilman Jorge Eduardo. According to the Brazilian official, drivers who choose the use of CNG will have 75% of discount in the amount of IPVA (tax on vehicles’ property), besides the preservation of the environment.
Currently, Angra dos Reis has about two thousand vehicles running on CNG. It is expected that these numbers increase by 50% with the installation of the new dispensing point.
