This program focuses the conversation specifically on transportation and includes a strategic look at policies and regulations, production and distribution, vehicle demonstrations, pricing, and steps to make the renewable fuel work for fleets. It will draw upon the expertise of government officials, landfill operators, technology leaders and researchers.
“RNG is the lowest carbon fuel for transportation; it’s abundant; and it’s renewable. Using it recycles waste, displaces fossil fuels and mitigates greenhouse gas emissions,” said Calstart’s president and CEO John Boesel.
The initiative will be formally discussed during a workshop to be held next November 18th at the Southern California Gas Company Energy Research Center, and will involve the participation of the California Energy Commission, the Argonne National Laboratory and the US Department of Agriculture. In turn, the companies representing the fleet perspective include Coca-Cola Enterprises North America and the UK, Waste Management and CR&R.
