Cornejo announced that these tests will be carried out until the end of the month, as reported by the Municipality of Lima on its website. “The passengers have responded positively and the Metropolitan public transport system has become very popular among them. School and university students are those who adapt faster to the use of the service,” he stated.
This new testing phase is carried out in high traffic hours, from 6 pm to 9 pm, when the performance of drivers and buses are being evaluated and controlled. In relation to the results of test executed in recent days, the mayor of Lima, Luis Castañeda Lossio, described them as successful. Up to date, more than 90,000 persons were transport during the test periods of the Metropolitan system.
At the same time, Casteñada Lossio pointed out that 36 articulated buses were earmarked for running these new tests, as part of 500 CNG buses that will ply across this public transport system. These units will help to reduce pollution and will meet Euro V standard.
