TOTAL Heerstraße filling station in Berlin City provides motorists with CNG, petrol, diesel, LPG and Hydrogen. The station serves various vehicles, from Light to Heavy-Duty ones. The facility belongs to TOTAL Company, in which the CNG is supplied by GASAG, a major gas distributor in the city.
Berlin waste collection truck fleet
Berliner Stadtreinigungsbetriebe (BSR), the Berlin municipal waste management company, operates a fleet of more than 300 waste collection trucks to collect the residual and organic waste from all Berlin households. The company has a long experience with NGVs. A fleet of 50 Daimler CNG waste collection trucks (all low floor), one fast-filling CNG station and one mobile filling station are operationable since 2002. Another 30 of these eco-friendly vehicles and a second fast-filling station have been commissioned in 2010.
It is planned to extend the CNG fleet to up to 140 vehicles and to construct another CNG fast filling station at a third depot by 2012. When their own biomethane fermentation plant (the raw material will be biowaste collected from Berlin households) is finalized by 2011 / 2012, BSR will use that biogas to fill its fleet.
