The European and German contribution to global NGV growth
There are already more than 12 million methane vehicles worldwide and 4,000 units are switched to the NGV system daily. As for the Old Continent, if mid 2009 figures are compared with the same period this year, the growth of NGVs was 18%. Also, the stations increased from 3,160 to 3,570, representing a 13% rise.
Another fact to note is that CNG buses and trucks have a significant role in the region: they consume 73.5% of methane applied to vehicles, while in the rest of the world the average is 40.5%.
On the other hand, the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport will soon publish a report that will give natural gas vehicles an essential role, since greenhouse emissions will be reduced from 80% to 95% by 2050.
The federal government has clearly expressed its support for natural gas and biomethane as fuels and advocates for the increased use of this type of vehicles. In line with this, it tax cuts in those units are expected for an indefinite period of time.
All these factors make the 2nd NGVA Europe International Show & Workshops an excellent opportunity to do business and networking key to the NGV industry.
