Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah stated that this project aims to promote a cleaner movility, just the way President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani expect to happen.
Once this project has been implemented, a total of 4,000 buses will be on the road. It will take five years to be completely executed, although 500 units will be introduced in Karachi first of all. About four million passengers would be benefit with the additions of these NGVs.
Karachi Mass Transit Cell Director General Malik Zaheerul Islam said at the meeting where this project was announced that Planning Commission of Pakistan had allocated Rs 5 billion for the initiative based on a detailed study sponsored by the government.
