Bologna 2012 will be our next big European -and global- event for the natural gas vehicle industry. After the great successes in Madrid, Rome and Berlin, now we meet in Bologna, in the heart of the number one European NGV market to see what’s new in the industry and in particular, to discuss in our workshops about the sustained evolution of technology and applications of both compressed and liquefied natural gas in the different types of vehicles: road, railway, ships and aircraft.
Natural gas is the only fuel that can be used in two different states: as a gaseous fuel (CNG) and as a liquid fuel (LNG). And this unique feature opens various and great application possibilities. Moreover, the dual source of obtaining methane -as natural gas from wells or as renewable biomethane produced from municipal, agricultural, livestock and forestry waste- demonstrates it is the alternative fuel most often employed in all types of vehicles and engines.
In various workshops we will study the evolution of the term “virtuous cycle” of production and use of biomethane in cities, the vision of the growing number of automakers offering factory-built new models with CNG option, the interesting field of dual fuel in heavy trucks, the increased use of LNG in marine propulsion – now also affected by the new exhaust emission regulations from the ECAS (Emission Control Area for Ships-), several studies and developments from both sides of the Atlantic regarding use of LNG in airplanes, and much more.
In NGVA Europe we are very pleased to witness the increasing worldwide interest in natural gas as an alternative, sustainable and – of course- available solution to replace petroleum. Our association is gaining reputation and recognition both in the fields of technical and political work, and we are happy to present our achievements and share our activities with the entire NGV sector in Bologna 2012.
