The announcement of the LNG plant construction was made by the YPFB Corporation CEO, Carlos Villegas. The facility will be located in Rio Grande, in Santa Cruz Department, and will produce 210 metric tons a day. The site allocated for the plant installation is the same where YPFB Andina Absorption and Injection Plant and Río Grande Liquid Separation Plant operate.
The natural gas used by the liquefaction plant will mainly come from the output of the Río Grande Liquid Separation Plant and, in case of emergency, will be connected directly to both GASYRG and YABOG pipelines.
Once the plant begins operations, 32 cryogenic tankers will be deployed to transport LNG nationwide. At the same time, two mobile regasification modules will be used for specific activities such as LNG transportation and regasification in the country and in 33 RSS. These stations will handle the liquefied natural gas storage and delivery of the product in a gaseous state to the different applications: household, industrial and commercial consumption and CNG refueling stations.
